For a good while now, we’ve been in love with the music of Austin’s Sun June. While the band has perfected a sound that stands on its own, the music they make is somewhere between striking and soothing. Now that the band has a new album Somewhere set for release in February, their new single “Everything I Had” delivers on their unique sound while the video for the single shows the lighter side to the group.
The video is funny because it feels like how music has to be performed in these uncertain times. The music however is something else entirely. The airy vocals that dance above the thick guitar mesh perfectly with the brushed drums and the echoing keys. There’s a whimsy to the song that cannot be unheard, yet the construction of the music showcases the strengths that the Austin group brings to their songs. Delicate arrangements intertwining with a pop structure give you earnest sounds without losing your attention.
The video is available to stream above or on YouTube. “Everything I Had” can be listened to on all streaming platforms. Somewhere is available for preorder directly from Keeled Scales/Run For Cover Records before its February 05 street date.
