Christian Lee Hutson Drops Three Song Covers E.P.

In a short time California’s Christian Lee Hutson has made quite the name for himself. With his 2020 full length Beginners he found himself with heaps of praise. Now the singer songwriter has finalized an EP that was on Bandcamp only to disappear. Back on the platform, The Version Suicides has the artist covering ABBA, Taylor Swift and Vanessa Carlton with ease.

From the opening notes of the ABBA classic “Dancing Queen” it’s obvious that Lee Hutson has his own take on the iconic disco bop. His vocals self-harmonize perfectly under the acoustic and the additional keys. It definitely sounds wonderful as he sways between the lyrics with a newfound tone for the song. With the Taylor Swift folky song “Betty,” he doesn’t mix things up while still making the song his own version. It has a nice Elliott Smith vibe to it that works and works well. The closing track, Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” is recognizable but still quite different. That melody is an immediate hit and here it plays along with the singer’s doubled vocals to craft a sound that’s as strong as the original.

The EP can be heard wherever you stream music or it can be purchased in all digital outlets. It’s also available to purchase from the Anti Records Bandcamp page.
