Modern R&B music seems to eclipse the nineties R&B styles with each track that drops. The artists who embrace this modern era of the genre with varying tones and new structures for themes and music are treading new territory. While serpentwithfeet has always gone his own way, he’s definitely a trailblazer in more ways than one. With a new album DEACON coming in March, his new single “Fellowship” is steeped in love and it drips from every note.
The emotions within the rhythmic track cannot be hidden. Togetherness, intimacy and power are all seeping from the song. The vocals evoke the words of a man who’s happy with his life and who feels every word he sings. There’s a communal spirit in the backing group vocals as the falsetto is just as wondrous, pulling you in as the track plays out. The video featuring the artist embracing with his lover are just as beautiful and magical as the song itself.
The video is ready to view above. The single can be streamed wherever you stream music. DEACON can be preordered directly from Secretly Canadian ahead of its March 26 release.
