Muzz Brings Their Own Desk to Tiny Desk Performance

When news broke that Paul Banks had formed a super group with Muzz, it became increasingly obvious that this band struck a nerve with their fans. The more folk based sound of the band that utilized interplay with indie rock was one of our favorites of last year. While their self-titled debut was a winner from beginning to end, their live sets haven’t been a regularity due to the pandemic. On their new Tiny Desk set for NPR they definitely change that with an almost fifteen minute performance that works so well.

For some of the songs performed, this format is perfect. However with a song like “Knuckleduster” the band really digs in and sticks with the Tiny Desk format and delivers a memorable version of the song. The four songs chosen, “Bad Feeling,” “Knuckleduster,” “Trinidad” and “Summer Love” all take on a new form here and showcase the talents of the members as a unit rather than individually.

The performance is viewable above or at the NPR website. Muzz is available on multiple formats directly from Matador Records. It can also be streamed or downloaded in all digital services.
