While Copenhagen may be the capitol of Denmark, one wonders if the city is big enough to hold the sounds of Iceage. Over the years the band has offered up some of the best cinematic indie rock going while delivering excitement in their shows and everywhere else. Now after signing to Mexican Summer the band has released the new single “The Holding Hand” and a video for the track to celebrate the occasion.
There’s a brooding nature to the song. The build is rife with tension between the vocals and the stark stabs of piano. The cinematic sounds within stir your soul with the bursts of emotive energy. When the song picks up steam, the energetic underpinnings come full force and slap you in the face with a force that’s powerful and full of weight. The stringed instruments just add to the melodic and terse sound of the song.
The video is streamable above or on YouTube. The song can be heard on all streaming sites or it can be downloaded in all digital music stores via Mexican Summer.
