When No Home Record by Kim Gordon was released in th Fall of 2019, little did any of us know that we’d all essentially lose a year due to a global pandemic. Besides one of this magazine’s favorite albums of 2019, it felt like a proclamation more than a full length to us. As if to say “this is the new noise” it helped signal a new point in Gordon’s career. Between swirling notes and gritty tones, the song “Hungry Baby” exists and it’s one of our favorites from the release. Now the song has been given the video treatment and it’s just as disarming as the song itself.
The intensity of the song permeates into the story line of the video. Opening with a jerk throwing a milkshake at a young employee, things tick up as she places in headphones and the music begins. Running around the parking lot and moving to the fevered pace of the song, there’s an emotive quality to the imagery. Letting loose as she lets the music flow through her, it’s something we can all relate to in our youth and even well after.
The video can be seen above or on YouTube. No Home Record is available to purchase directly from Matador Records. It can also be streamed on all sites or downloaded from all outlets. Kim Gordon is scheduled to appear June 03 at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain and at NOS Primavera Sound on June 10 in Porto, Portugal.
