Manchester Orchestra offered us enough of a teaser after their weekend concert film drop. The time clock with just Bed Head written again and again, the whispers about something new coming. That new item is here, a new single and video for the new song “Bed Head.” The sounds of the song differ from what you may expect while holding their core sound. To accompany this they’ve also announced their next album will be titled The Million Masks of God due in late April.
Opening with bursts of electronics the band rolls in with this synth underneath the traditional instruments. The vocals come in with those electronics still going. Singer Andy Hull sounds refreshed here while still evoking his emotional tone. The band is definitely treading into new territory here while still sounding like themselves. In many ways its just the natural ascension to something new. The video features life through the eyes of a child living in a world with a ghost. What would offer a fright for some is seen differently through her eyes as pictures sing the lyrics within their hung frames.
The video is ready to watch above or on YouTube. The song is available to stream on all services or purchase from all digital outlets. The Million Masks of God can be preordered directly from Loma Vista Recordings before its April 30 release.
