On their most recent album Atlas Vending, Canada’s METZ delivered on all that we wanted from a band that makes the kind of noise punk they create. Intense and brash, immense and without pause; the album checked so many boxes other than being one of our favorites of 2020. Now they’ve dropped a new video for the song “Sugar Pill” that evokes how we all feel right now during these cold days and colder nights.
Shot in Thunder Bay, Ontario the video shows how unstoppable skateboarding is while matching the intensity of the song perfectly. In the cold, the snow and even indoors, skateboarding will happen. The skating in the barn works as a perfect visual for the song’s heavier and feverish pacing. The skating of Jojo Johnson and Sara Smith embody skateboarding’s spirit while paying homage to the sport with a killer soundtrack.
The video can be seen above or on YouTube. Atlas Vending is available for purchase directly from Sub Pop Records. METZ will be on tour starting August 11 at Canela Party in Torremolinos, Spain until October 08 in Antwerp, Belgium at Muziekcentrum Trix. Their complete tour schedule is available here.
