Glaare Taps Ross Farrar of Ceremony on New Single

Darkwave as a sub genre has gained plenty of steam in recent years. In fact it wasn’t long ago that bands that create the music that falls into that category were mislabeled as bedroom pop or in some cases, post punk. For Los Angeles four piece Glaare though, their darkwave tendencies have always been well documented. With a new album Your Hellbound Heart coming out in late April, the band has dropped a new single “Divine Excess” featuring Ross Farrar of of the band Ceremony and it’s pretty amazing.

The earmarks of the genre come in from the jump. The witchy opening meets these distanced vocals that create a dark tone as synths come in under the vocals. The pop elements that frame the track offer an upbeat tone where the echoing vocals can reside. The beats and synths craft a tone that steers into touches of new wave with plenty of ringing notes. The lead vocals pair perfectly with Farrar’s and elevate the song into a deeper existence met with dance pop sounds that drive deep and hard with pulsating rhythms.

The song is available to stream above or on Bandcamp. Your Hellbound Heart can be preordered directly from Weyrd Son Records or from Bandcamp in various formats ahead of its April 30 release.
