Tex Crick Shares Relaxed New Song

Australia’s Tex Crick has a way of offering up a smooth and at times mellow sound without putting listeners to sleep. The one time collaborator for everyone from Iggy Pop to Weyes Blood is taking a swing out on his own with his debut solo album Live In… New York City. While the album isn’t a live release, the notes on it feel very relevant in a time when going outdoors has been met with fraught. With the album out this Friday, his new single “Always On My Mind” delivers more soft sounds with a well arranged quality.

The sentimental notes within the song remind you of another era where piano driven songs where everywhere. Here Crick mixes an organ in to hone in on a sound that feels hefty when it begins. His vocals roll in with a tenderness, matching the chill vibes that the music creates. The track rolls along with a moderate pacing but holds your attention. The way the organ pulls together the song is masterful, delivering these hearty notes that get met with melody driven keys. The relaxed tones may have touches of seventies a.m. gold, but the end result is integral to the sound that Crick creates.

The song is ready to stream above or on all streaming platforms. Live In… New York City is available for preorder physically from Mac’s Record Label before its March 26 release. It can also be preordered in all digital outlets.
