Chicago’s Horsegirl may be a band made up of three teenagers, but don’t attempt to discount their wealth of abilities or power in music. When they released recent 7″ for “Ballroom Dance Scene”/”Sea Life Sandwich Boy” the first pressing sold in in twenty-four hours. Now signed to Matador Records, the trio has more spaces to invade with their punk energy and indie rock tones. To celebrate the news the band has announced an upcoming live-stream event in less than a week.
Their prowess to their craft is evident on their B-side single “Sea Life Sandwich Boy” where they intertwine dreamy guitars with a straight forward vocal approach. The depth in their music goes far beyond their years as they show an appreciation for what came before them while honoring their own sound at the present. The hooks here alone are head and shoulders above many contemporary acts of today.
The Free live-stream will take place on April 12 at 6 p.m. CST on Vans Channel 66. More information is to come after their recent signing to Matador Records.
