Squid Drops New Single & Announces First US Tour

Next Friday UK five piece Squid will reveal their hotly anticipated album Bright Green Field. The album should quake some boots seeing as how the band have received praise for their energetic live sets. While the Brighton based post punks have released plenty of single before the album’s reveal, their new song “Pamphlets” is in its own lane. The build alone on the track places the band in another head space before they bend things and really take off.

The song has all of the markings of the band’s chaotic sound. Starting melodic and slow before jaunting into a new place. The deadpan vocals mix well with the jangled guitars and snappy drums. When the vocals come in harder like a scream the band doesn’t disappoint as they turn things up. The stilted tones and ringing sounds up the ante without losing the pot in the end. The band’s construction here is masterful, showing off their jilted style at its height.

“Pamphlets” can be heard above or on all streaming sites. Bright Green Field can be preordered directly from Warp Records before its May 07 release on various formats. Squid is set to begin touring September 07 at Concorde 2 in Brighton, UK until November 23 at Crocodile in Seattle, WA. Their complete tour schedule can be accessed here.
