Latest Cold Cave Single Revels in Dark Tones

Los Angeles’ Cold Cave has never disappointed when it comes to creating a sound that blends post punk with darkwave. Since their inception, the band has treaded a path of dark tones to craft a sound that reminds you of some things while forging their own path at the same time. With a new EP Fate In Seven Lessons coming in June, the group touches on their past while signalling a new future on their latest single “Prayer From Nowhere.”

The pulsating synths that open the song already delve into a darker tone. Meeting melodic synths, the song flows with an intensity that shimmers while thriving in darker notes. The vocals have that echoed and almost monotone sound to them, reminding you of earlier Cold Cave. The brooding sounds of the vocals pair perfectly with the higher register of the melody within. The end result is a mixture that evokes plenty of depth and hearty notes. The accompanying video of Wesley Eisold driving in a convertible Mustang pairs with the song’s attitude while the black and white film matches the tonal qualities of the track.

The video can be viewed above or on YouTube. “Prayer From Nowhere” can be streamed on all streaming platforms. Fate In Seven Lessons is available for preorder directly from Heartworm Press before its June 11 release.
