Mdou Moctar Reveals Mesmerizing New Song

For a minute now Niger’s Mdou Moctar has grown their name by leaps and bounds. The man and the band have both made names for themselves as a force to be reckoned with when it comes to energetic Tuareg music. With their new album Afrique Victime due out this week, their new single “Taliat” offers more energy while its new video gives a glimpse into the world of the band. The band has also announced a tour in the US with the dates listed below.

The song has that meandering energy that the band has made a name off of. The runs down the fret board flow like water through a valley. The vocals have a passionate tone and help guide the track along. The backing vocals add weight to the hypnotizing sounds that the band creates together. The mystical tones and the vocals together offer up the Tuareg music with grace while elevating what we know of the region’s sound. The video features the band navigating the roads of Niger while also featuring them interacting with others. The video and the music seem to go hand in hand, letting you in on the stunning tones of the music.
