Sharon Van Etten & Angel Olsen Shine on Fallon

For a while now we’ve written about both Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten. The two separately craft some of the best music out today. While Olsen released two albums and a box set, Van Etten has reissued her second album and released a new album as well. However together the two artists are a force which explains why their latest single “Like I Used To” is so good. The other night they stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to perform the song and it sounds as great as you’d expect.

The energy behind the song flows in this performance. Debuting it on television for the first time, the two artists appear stoic in the performance. With Van Etten on the lead vocals she delivers the opening with style and grace. Singing the chorus together, both artists come across as strong as they do on the recording. When Olsen sings her verse she lights up the words with her signature vocals. When they come back together for the chorus it creates a sound that feels like it’s meant to be. Together with the backing band the two singer songwriters shimmer and deliver the song as only they both can.

The video is ready to watch above. “Like I Used To” is available to stream on all streaming sites or it can be purchased in all digital outlets via Jagjaguwar. Angel Olsen will be on tour beginning September 11 in Chicago, IL for Pitchfork Festival until July 06, 2022 in Alges, Portugal at Passeio Maritmo De Alges. Her tour dates can be found here. Sharon Van Etten is appearing at Ohana Festival on September 26 in Dana Point, CA and at Outside Lands on October 29 in San Francisco, CA.

Everyone from Angel Olsen to Phoebe Bridgers, Wire to Yo La Tengo, Snail Mail to Soccer Mommy, Ghost to First Aid Kit, The Breeders to Protomartyr, and many more. He's a giant fan of music of pretty much any genre; but especially to the underdogs. He's been known to see more concerts in a week than many people will see in a year.
