Men I Trust Crush on Tiny Desk

For anyone in the know, one of the better bands to gain any traction in recent years is Canada’s Men I Trust. The band’s 2019 album Oncle Jazz is already on its fifteenth pressing. Aside from the fact that they’ve announced a new album coming later this year titled The Untourable Album the band rented a cabin to get together and perform for NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series. What results is a softer and more intimate space for the band’s songs to thrive.

The soft balance between the vocals and the relaxed music really stretches out here. The band has always employed a more easy going tone yet here they feel in the pocket. The way the bridges in the songs work so well within the music’s structuring and the vocals are more tender is pure magic. There’s an expansive energy here that’s a bit different from the band’s typical live sets while the sorcery of those experiences aren’t lost here either. The band covers a lot of ground set list wise in a short time. It all works so well offering up a memorable experience for fans both new and old.

Set List:

“Show Me How”

“Lucky Sue”

“Humming Man”

“All Night”

The video can be viewed above or on YouTube. Oncle Jazz is available to purchase directly from Bandcamp. It can also be streamed on all platforms or purchased in all digital outlets. Men I Trust is set to appear at L’Astral in Montreal, QC, Canada on September 18.
