For a minute now we’ve championed the music of Helado Negro. There’s just something magical in how he writes and composes his music. While we were big fans of his last full length This Is How You Smile, we’ve also enjoyed his offerings after it. Now with a new album Far In announced for release in October, his first album for new label 4AD could be a doozy. Based off his lead single “Gemini and Leo” we could be in for a real treat with this new album.

The song bumps from the start. The vocals come in and meet the beat perfectly while you’re already bopping your head. The way the song is composed the synths create a sparkling melody that cascades as the beats bump along. The vocals here represent some of the best Helado Negro has placed on a song to date. The mix of his lower register with falsetto creates a deep resonance that you can’t shake. The neon colored animation of the video pops and matches the energy of the song perfectly.

The video is ready to watch above. “Gemini and Leo” can be heard on all streaming platforms. Far In is ready to be preordered from 4AD Records ahead of its October 22 release. Helado Negro is scheduled to appear in Porto, Portugal at NOS Primavera Sound on June 09, 2022.
