Khruangbin Announces Mordechai Remix Album

For the last five years Houston’s Khruangbin have been hitting it hard. Between tours around the globe and several albums and collaborations, the trio has been putting their name in front of any music fan. Now that we’re a year from their last full length Mordechai, they’ve announced a remix album titled Mordechai Remixes. With remixed tracks by Soul Clap, Ron Trent, Knxwledge and more, it should get funky real fast. First in the released tracks is the Quantic “Pelota (Cut a Rug Mix)” that offers rhythmic tones and tropical vibes.

The percussive opening and the sped up pace should let you know this is a well constructed reworking of the track. The rhythmic touches place the song into a new territory while the spaced out vocals take it to a new space. The track feels like it’s ready to groove to. With Tropicalia infused brass and an island vibe, the remix hits perfectly without masking the heart of the song. Quantic does well in adding their flavor while delivering their own touch to the song with grace and precision.

The visualizer can be viewed above. “Pelota (Cut a Rug Remix)” can be heard on all streaming sites. Mordechai Remixes is available for preorder directly from Dead Oceans before it drops on October 29. Khruangbin is on tour beginning July 31 in Omaha, NE at Maha Festival until April 14, 2022 at Alexandra Palace in London, UK. Their tour schedule is available here.
