South Sudanese pop star Gordon Koang definitely forges his own path. With themes of love and unity flowing throughout his music, the now Melbourne based artist has always delivered songs that lift your spirit and warm your heart. After surviving lock down during the global pandemic, Koang is back with a new Double A-Side 12 inch titled Cornonavirus/Disco 12″ due in August. Putting his signature four stringed instrument the thom to work, his new single “Cornavirus” offers condolences to those affected by the virus while delivering an upbeat sound.
The song has an upbeat vibe between the keys and the rhythmic beats. The instrumentation is vibrant and offers a palette for Koang to come in and deliver his vocals. The song sounds like it’s leading a parade as it sways along. The pop lead here is artfully presented with Koang singing with an impassioned tone. The hooks grab a hold of your ears and don’t let go as the rhythmic tones get your feet moving and keep them going. The well of empathy here is vibrant as the music definitely expands what Koang has become known for in the past.
The single can be heard above or on all streaming platforms. The Coronavirus/Disco 12″ is available for preorder from Music In Exile before its August 04 release date.Gordon Koang is set to appear at Theatre Royal in Castlemaine, VIC, Australia on July 30.
