While the name Chloe Zelma Studebaker isn’t well known, the artist’s stage name Zelma Stone has certainly gained some traction. With a slew of releases in a short time, the singer songwriter has made a mark on the indie world. With a new EP titled The Best due in August, her new single “Money Honey” definitely takes you off to a different place while warming your heart at the same time.
The tone bathed guitar that begins the song pulls you in like a voice calling from afar. The delicate touches between the vocals and the slow pacing of the song offer a tenderness that strikes your senses. When things begin to pick up, the instrumentation reveals a relaxed sound that easily grabs your attention. While the vocals are the lead here, the instruments make it so with intricate arrangements and a calming gaze for the words to pop. When the song hits it hits hard and grabs you with its ferocity. The accompanying video has just as many stark moments that wake you up when it starts to go hard.
The video can be watched above. “Money Honey” can be heard on all streaming platforms. The Best is available for preorder from all digital outlets including on Bandcamp ahead of its August 20 release.
