It’s not hard to tell that Mastodon is a band that has no issue selling attendance for their shows. Dropping off the well conceived new digs for “Fallen Torches” you can also find here, the band is easily on their way to something larger. Of course we’re all still bemusing their retouched financial sounds, their latest below is a tour de force to say the least.
The song hits from the jump. Between the wheeling and dealing guitars the vocals hit perfectly. The vocals steer for simplicity between the forceful guitars. The band hits on all spaces within before turning towards the guitars to shred out the ultimate sheerness of power. Even on the centerpiece the band steers the chorus towards a darker place. Taking the track to a calming and representative place, the vocals ad the instruments go there and then some. The end result is a track that you can sink your teeth into and really take off from.
The vinyl is available to find online. It can also be found on all streaming sites. Mastodon will be on tour starting October 10 at Discovery Park in Sacramento, CA until June 23-25 at Tons of Rock in Oslo, Norway. Their tour dates can be accessed here.
