In the grand spectrum of things, bands like New York’s Big Thief don’t peer themselves around very often. Between their touring schedule currently taking place and their songwriting, few would place them in a space of the “new band.” With a new song “Certainty” out now, you can hear their intensity rather, and enjoy the moments of honesty throughout the song itself.

The song opens up like a grand country song. With Adrienne Lenker on vocals the backing vocals add to her weight without tearing anything away. Her vocals have a dearness to them resting along the easy going tunes in the background. There’s an easy going nature to the song while there’s also a big piece within it that steers everything towards your ears. The way the song speaks to you is extraordinary while the demeanor of the track hits completely different and holds your ears to the gaze that the band has created here. When the vocals come back they feel stronger and more weighted speaking just to you.
