The other night in Houston, TX many of us got together to catch a band we hadn’t had visit us in a good while. Catching Big Thief in person was a treat and something to be enamored by. Touring behind their latest two albums Two Hands and U.F.O.F. the band was set to bring their magical energy to the stage. What we had no idea of that it was worth the wait and not to be revered.
From the start of the concert to its end, the show was extraordinary. Between the four players, Adrianne Lenker lead the band into a set that while we saw its existence, felt like a swing into the air. Once the show began the band spoke rarely, and rather took their spaces on stage and let out a roar. Sticking primarily to upbeat tracks like “Forgotten Eyes” and “Shoulders,” the band did find time to slow things down. However that was for only a brief second, keeping most of their set lively and full of energy.
You can catch Big Thief in person starting tonight at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN until Union Transfer in Philadelphia, PA. Tickets can be purchased here. You can also buy their latest music directly from 4ad Records.
