Japanese Breakfast Shares New Song From Sable Game

When you hear of a 32 track soundtrack out, you wonder who was behind it. Typically it’s someone you’ve never heard of, yet this time it’s actually Japanese Breakfast. In the midst of the songwriting, she adds so much to the songs and delivers her whimsy at the same time. Part of the Sable video game soundtrack, the song is beautiful as well as enigmatic.

The song begins with a sobering piano sound that lulls you into a calm. The imagery of Michelle Zauner performing at the piano before the strings come in is extraordinary. The calming vocals offer the song up in a way that’s peaceful and heartbreaking. The loss is there as the somber piano and it allows you to lose yourself in the song’s sadness. The way the strings play along with the piano give you a sense of ease while also offering themselves up in a different lighting. The song ends quite quickly, but you can always place it on repeat as well.

The song is available now. It can also be streamed on all streaming services or it can be picked up through Amazon. Japanese Breakfast is on tour starting September 30 at Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, CA until June 09 in Porto, PT at NOS Primavera Sound Festival. Her complete dates are accessible here.
