PUP Share Two New Songs & Announce Tour

As far as charitable bands go, few offer up the kindness to charities as Toronto’s PUP. While these are the first two new songs for the year, “Waiting” and “Kill Something,” the band has also found a way to get new songs out ahead of their upcoming run of tour dates. While their tour is next year in February, the songs are ready now and both come with the sonic intensity they’ve become known for.

“Waiting” hits immediately and delivers the band’s signature sound quickly. The rise of notes underneath their singer’s vocals offers the song up with intensity. The band offers this up behind a strong chorus of notes that sing through your speakers and light up your afternoon. There’s no BS here as the band comes in hot and doesn’t let up. Their Canadian sound elevates the track to a higher level without sounding too higher up. The way the band comes in for the chorus gives them plenty of energy to lift them higher than before. The hooks from the guitar are perfectly themed before things get a bit chaotic and then they’re back with plenty of instrumentation.

On “Kill Something” the band opens the song with a gentle and easy going sound of vocals and squealing guitars. There’s nothing that plays out here that doesn’t shock you, but you aren’t expecting it either. Their tonal qualities work on all levels here as they dig deep and come back with a vocal melody that works. The riffs mixed with the vocals make for an interesting sound that evokes what the band’s about without turning anyone away. It’s just solid music from start to finish as they dig deep for new answers.

Both songs can be streamed here or above via YouTube. Both songs are also available to purchase from wherever you get music. PUP will be on tour beginning February 07 at Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg, MB until August 24 in Milaga, Spain for Canela Party Festival. Their complete tour dates are available here.
