In the grand scope of popular music a new act is always ready to hear. Imagine what would happen if Kevin Whelan of The Wrens embraced his demons with a new band. Now imagine that they exist, they’re called Aeon Station and they have a new album titled Observatory out December 10. That’s the case this time and we’re seriously loving their new single “Fade” much more than anything we’re hearing lately.
There’s a mystery here between the music and the video. Musically the song has this gurgle from the bass as the singer gently sings towards you. The gentle tides that sway underneath offer the song up as a touch on your soul. The pacing of it has a motion that conveys so much of how you’re living and gives you more towards everything. The nature within the video is as stunning as the music. The drops of water, the space where water exists within the land and the large bubble all offer themselves up as distractions. The way it all hits offers your ears something extraordinary while you experience something new and beautiful. The joy in movement here, the lack of clothing and the embrace of the ocean all feel normal under these circumstances.
The song is available above or it can be heard wherever you stream music. Observatory is available from Sub Pop on December 10.
