King Gizzard Drops New Song Off Upcoming Album

On our end of the music business you should always be prepared for new music to drop. For some bands that means that it falls into the structure of their contract and doesn’t dismay anything. For Australia’s King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, that can mean whenever they want. While the paint is still wet on their last album, the band has announced a new album titled Omnium Gatherum. Within the worlds of new songs and old favorites, the sixteen track release is more of a mixture than anything else. Their lead single “The Dripping Tap” is a perfect example that sprawls out over 18 minutes of psych goodness.

The song opens with a chilled out beginning with spaced out vocals that steers into its own path. While things feel slow, the build up for more speed is coming and digging in at the same time. When the band goes in they go hard and leave everything else in its waste. The guitar pieces are extraordinary and offer a sound that extends the band’s knowledge. There’s plenty here to love, including how deep the band goes to achieve their sound. The vocals return with a renewed sound and palette to offer up a more revised touch. At times the band slows their input while still keeping things interesting, which is what makes the song so amazing.

The song is available to stream above via YouTube or wherever you stream the band’s music. Their new album Omnium Gatherum is available for preorder from KGLW Records starting March 22. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will be on tour starting March 19 at Lollapalooza Argentina in Buenos Aires, AR until October 31 at The Criterion in Oklahoma City, OK. Their tour dates can be accessed here.
