Kevin Devine Returns With Upbeat New Song

In music it seems that singer songwriters are truly making up so much of the music. With multiple sounds coming out and offering themselves up, some of the best sounds are coming from Kevin Devine.  With a new album announced to drop in late March, his new record Nothing’s Real, So Nothing’s Wrong could become your new favorite album. With his tour scheduled to begin in April,  his new single “Override” is epic in its sound and ethos.

The wearied guitars that open with his vocals just underneath them has an immediacy to them. The song has an upbeat nature to it that shows off his ability to still mix things up. The distorted vocals that come in give you plenty of tone while the song offers up a varied sound of its own. There are moments where he sounds like Elliott Smith yet still finds his own space. When the track slows down the notes are beautifully captured and offered up with a gentle ease. Devine digs deep but doesn’t get too far off track either. He keeps things on path yet slower and heads back into the pop side of the song. When things come back he brings you back to the happier side of the song while mixing things up as well.

The video for the song can be watched on YouTube or heard on all streaming sites. The new album by Kevin Devine is available for preorder directly from Triple Crown Records before its March 25 release. Kevin Devine will be on tour starting April 06 at Ottobar in Baltimore, MD until May 20 in Atlanta, GA at Hell At The Masquerade. His complete tour is available here.
