Last year when Hardly Art Records dropped the album I Want The Door To Open from upcoming artist Lala Lala they proved they were ahead of the curve. Years of cultivating new acts for the label, Lala Lala came gift wrapped and they got more than they could’ve bargained for. However with her new single “Memory” she takes things even further and gives us something we can all gravitate towards.
The vocal presence at the top of the new song by Lala Lala has a nuanced tone to it. Even when the piano starts up her vocals have a twinge of harmony to it. However when the song picks up and gets backed by vocals it really seems to find its space. When things pick up her vocals have a nice effect on them as she sings through the balance of the track. The way it hits your ears allows you to fall for it easier. The honesty in her voice sounds like honesty placed to music. The underpinned moments come forth just like an admission of sorts. The way she sings comes and goes between pop elements and relaxed measures. It swings and sways like you’d expect but in the end you want more.
The song can be heard above or wherever you stream music. The song can be purchased from wherever you buy music as well. Lala Lala is on tour starting March 22 at Starline Social Club in Oakland, CA until August 27 at This Ain’t No Picnic 2022 in Pasadena, CA. Her tour dates can be accessed here.
