It’s hard to believe that Robert Pollard‘s time on Merge Records was a short lived time. However in 2007 Pollard dropped two solo albums in a relatively short time, like about a day or so. Always the consummate songwriter, Pollard kept that up into a solo career where he released the albums Coast To Coast Carpet of Love and Standard Gargoyle Decisions on Merge Records. Now both out of print, Pollard has condensed the two albums into one with Our Gaze. Below Pollard has revealed the song “Feel Not Crushed.”

The song opens with a distorted gaze of guitar tones. With Pollard coming in afterwards and offering up his vocals he gives us more reason to love what he does. His voice rings out as the lyrics come fourth and offer their smarts on us all. There’s a continued feeling here that flows throughout and delivers his wisdom to us all while we soak up the energy. The way the song comes together has the guise that a team worked on it yet it’s Pollard who brings it all together.
