New albums from bands offer up wherever the band is at in their career while many times offering up a new sound. When the band sounds a bit different they’re typically taking a risk on their fan base. With Dawes the band has a bit of an altered sound mixed with their past to offer up new music for all. The band is offering up a new album titled Misadventures of Doomscroller coming at the end of July. Their latest single “Comes In Waves” gives you an idea of their sound and it offers itself up below.
The track winds around this meandering guitar that wrangles all of the members together and flows underneath the vocals. The band is at ease with this flow which you can hear within the song. The screams that bounce out towards the members performing gives you an idea of how the song will sound live as well. The way they attack their parts offers them up with an electrifying sound. The intricate tones on the bass are really mind blowing as they sway between the guitar like a saw. The energy within the song offers itself up like a young person and delivers the track. The backing vocals are just as impressive as is the breakdown in the middle of the track. It’s definitely worth checking out.
The song can be heard above or on YouTube. The band’s new album is available to preorder from the band here before its July 22 release date. Dawes will be on tour starting July 04 in Asbury Park, NJ at Stone Pony Summer Stage until September 24 & 25 at Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in Franklin, TN. Their complete tour can be found here.
