A couple of years ago I went to a festival and caught a band that blew my mind. There were plenty of bands that day who were incredible but this band would be in my head for a long time. That band was Sun Ra Arkestra. Their sound was phenomenal and worthy of remembering. Now they have a new album coming out titled Living Sky coming out through Omni Sound. Their new single “Somebody Else’s Idea” is available to hear below.

The sounds that come forward from this song feel natural and seemingly unfettered. The band is on another level playing in sync with one another. The notes come from left field and the band fits them into what they’re up to. The stabs of sound that come across the board are phenomenal and suggest the band is onto something else entirely. They’re mix creates a sound that’s unexplanable yet curious making this song hard not to love.
