Some songwriters write about what they wish would happen while others already write about what has happened. The secondary is where the magic lies depending on who writes it. Luckily for you this song is written by H.C. McEntire. The singer songwriter has always had a good tune in her head and her latest single “Soft Crook’is a real gem.  Stream it below thanks to Merge Records.

Though the song seems like an afterthought we’re pretty sure it isn’t.  It feels like this narrative isn’t going anywhere. The way she sings gas a real Loretta Lynn type of quality. It takes in and gives back so much. It seems like a giving horse more than a taking person. The way the song evaluates your imagery is magical and full of the images we all love to see as we listen.
