Certain bands do whatever they want and the result is magical. Some falter yet that can be rare. However this new 22 minute track from Animal Collective is epic. The song “Defeat” is part of a new 12″ from Domino Recordings with a live B-side. The song can be heard below.

The song is wondrous and expansive. Feeling out the vibe in each verse, the band definitely expands their sound. The way the vocals alone lead the way is magical. The ups and downs for the song are all over yet bring things full circle. The way they incorporate each change is masterful by addition. The way the song flows shows how much time went into creating it.

The song can be heard above or wherever you stream music. The 12″ version of the song is available for preorder from Domino Recording Company before it drops on August 25.
