Few bands can announce that they have new music out and get the kind of reception that Modern English get. It’s been seven years since we heard new music from them but they’re back in a big way. The song, “Long In The Tooth” has a throwback sound that just resonates. Taken from their new album 1 2 3 4 the song has plenty of weight in its sound.
The song has the bombastic beginning of their early works. With the vocals up front there’s nothing to run from in terms of sound. The youthful yells of their singer mixed with the flow of lyrics that follow make the track sound more modern. The piano adds to the chimes of forgetfulness while the band digs deep and comes out the other side shining.
The song can be heard above or wherever you stream music. 1 2 3 4 is available for preorder here before its January release. Modern English is on tour starting September 15 at Space Ballroom in Hamden, CT until September 30 at Neptune Festival in Virginia Beach, VA. Their dates can be found here.
