Solo records can have a turn in them that could turn you off of an act’s sound. Coming from a band and going solo can cause an artist to grow as well. For Ex-Hex guitarist Mary Timony she sounds like she’s grown for her new solo record. That new record Untame the Tiger is as open and easy going as it gets while her first single “Dominoes” rocks on all levels. Stream the new song below.

The opening riffs hold a magic within them. Her vocals pull forward and pull you in to their presence. The way she blends different sounds is extraordinary.  There’s more here than you may realize. The deep flows and the upbeat guitar give you lots of depth while she takes things further than you’d expect. The echo on her vocals just adds to the song’s sound.
