Guys in full bands have a notion or two on their solo work. Usually when they drop a solo release though we’re blown away by it. That’s how it is on the new J Mascis record. Mascis takes our ears to a new place on “Can’t Believe We’re Here” from his new solo record What Do We Do Now. Coming on Sub Pop February second, the solo album is a nice turn for the guitarist.

The song is upbeat and cheerful. The video features a star related video. The upbeat song comes and goes with an ease as well as a sound that amplifies his sound. The drums are simple but they work here along his signature guitar. The overall sound sounds like J Mascis while he digs even deeper on a solo and pulls you further in on the song.
