Last year when Faye Webster revealed her new album Atlanta Millionaires Club, she proved that all we’d heard from the Southern artist was well deserved. While notably silent since its tour and release, Webster is back with a new stand alone single that further expands her honest and swooning sound. With “Better Distractions” Webster steps out from her usual role as the heartbroken and pulls you in with each well written note.
The song comes in hot from the jump. Mixing a seventies A.M. radio feel with Webster’s sultry approach immediately draws your attention. With relaxed drums and a swirling pedal steel, Webster delicately asks for your hand with her soft and sincere vocals. Offering a more chill tone, the real winner here is in how Webster delivers such an engaging track without steering into a sugary foray. The song is catchy without coming off as if its trying, which makes it more engaging. The video featuring Webster singing alongside other versions of herself is pretty cool as well, and drives the song home with a nice visual.
The video for the song can be viewed above or on YouTube. The song can be streamed on all streaming sites or purchased in all digital music stores. Atlanta Millionaires Club can be picked up in physical formats via Secretly Canadian. Faye Webster is scheduled to perform a live-stream set on October 06 at Noonchorus.
